Box Score Bangor, ME - Husson Men's Lacrosse won an impressive non-conference matchup against Daniel Webster College at Boucher Field Thursday night by a final of 18-12. The game went back and forth the whole contest, with Husson picking up its largest lead of the night in the final minute to capture the six-goal win.
DWC's David Downie scored first, just 11 seconds into the contest, but the visiting Eagles wouldn't pick up another until late in the first after Husson came storming back.
Brett Martin tied the game a half-minute later followed by a Brandon Corbo goal a minute later to move ahead 2-1. Corbo set up another goal at the seven minute mark and Jack White and Derek Driscoll added two more to close out the first quarter scoring.
Daniel Webster added a five-goal streak of their own between the end of first and into the second, tying the game at 5-5 on a David Downie goal, and 30 seconds later from Anthony Cotoni to go up 6-5. However, thats when first-year attacker Zach Glazier stepped in for Husson.
Glazier netted the first of his game-high six goals at the 7:28 mark of the second to start Husson's run of four unanswered goals. Glazier proved to be the offensive difference for the home team Eagles.
Husson outscored DWC 7-1 between the 7:28 mark of the second quarter and the 10:41 mark of the third, to which the visiting Eagles responded with four unanswered tallies. No to be outdone, the home Eagles finished on a 6-1 run to close out the final 15:11 of the tilt.
Glazier also turned in what might be the goal of the season for Husson. With 9:26 left in the fourth quarter, the rookie stutter-stepped, spun and unleashed a no-look firecracker into the top left corner of the goal from 30-feet out that absolutely baffled keeper Curtis Larade. On the play, Husson took a 15-12 lead, scored three more goals afterward, and held on for the win.
Husson will yet again have to face off against another Eagle foe in Green Mountain college on Saturday, with the women starting at 1:00pm and the men at 3:30pm. Both games will be broadcast live on the Husson gamecast portal by the New England School of Communications. Visit HussonEagles.com for more info.
