Box Score BANGOR, ME - The Husson University men's lacrosse team fell in its season-opener to Southern Maine by the score of 11-3 on Saturday afternoon at Boucher Field. The Eagles fall to 0-1 while the Huskies improve to 1-0.
Southern Maine raced out to a 3-0 lead thanks to a pair of Austin Watts tallies, but Brandon Corbo (Merrimack, NH) notched a goal with the Eagles a man-up.
USM responded with a pair of tallies but Corbo again answered to make it 6-2 with 7:41 left in the third quarter. Following a Huskies goal by Seth Wing, Brett Martin (Topsham, ME) made it 7-3 with just over two minutes left in the third.
Husson continued to battle, but USM scored four times in the fourth quarter to push the game out of reach.
Tom Lepage (Lewiston, ME) made 18 saves in net for Husson while Zach Bessett made seven for USM.
Husson continues action on Wednesday at Regis.
