Box Score BANGOR, Maine – Kenzie Worcester scores a career and game-high 17 points and Victoria McIntyre records her third career double-double to lead Husson women's basketball team to a 72-62 victory over New England College (NEC) in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Saturday afternoon inside Newman Gym.
Husson (3-1, 3-0 NAC) wins its third-straight game, while New England College (3-6, 1-3 NAC) drops its fifth-straight game this season and falls to 6-7 in the all-time series.
NEC jumped out to an early 6-2 lead in the first few minutes of the first quarter but a 6-0 run by Husson put the Eagles up by one with 6:50 remaining in the quarter. The Eagles and the Pilgrims went back and forth with each possession for the rest of the first half as Husson lead 37-31 going into the intermission.
A Breana Ramirez three-pointer coming out of break tried to spark a Pilgrims comeback but only could cut the Husson lead to 7 points as the Eagles pull away in the closer minutes of the game for the victory.
Worcester added five boards, four steals and two assist, while McIntyre finished with 12 points, and a game and career-high 17 boards the most in a single-game by an Eagle Player since 2012. She is the second player in program history during the NCAA era to record 17 or more rebounds in a single game.
Chandler Guerrette added 10, while Anna MacKenzie and Darla Morales recorded 13 and 10 points, respectively off the bench.
Utshana Durham led the Pilgrims with 13 points, while Maranda Parker added 11 and Ramirez and Tiffany Davis each had 10 points each. Davis and Lillard charted 11 and 10 rebounds, respectively.
The Eagles will return to the court on December 30 when they travel to Boston, Mass. To face UMass.-Boston for a 3:00 p.m. non-conference game and the Pilgrims will host Lyndon State on January 5 for a conference game with a 5:30 p.m. tipoff.
