Shaw's five goals helps Eagles advance to NAC Championship Final

Box Score

Bangor, Maine – Taylor Shaw's five goals help propel the defending North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Champions Husson to a 6-1 win over Colby-Sawyer in a NAC Championship semifinal match-up on Saturday evening at the Winkin Sports Complex to advance to their second consecutive NAC Championship final.

Lauren Russell gave Husson (7-9) the lead one minute and seven seconds into game with an unassisted goal before Shaw scored the game-winner in the sixth minute with an assist from Olivia Plaisted when she put the ball pass Colby-Sawyer (8-8) keeper Jodi Dumayne for her first of the game.

Shaw tallied two more unassisted goals in the first half at the 6:19 and 19:23 marks as the Eagles headed into intermission with a 4-0 lead.

Coming out of the break, Shaw extended the Eagles lead eleven seconds into the half with her fourth of the game when she found the back of the net off a nice pass from Russell.

Husson scored once again seven minutes later, when Russell found Shaw for her fifth, tying the school's single-game record of five goals held by two-time All-American Sabrina Vaillancourt. She set the mark on November 3, 2012 in the 2012 NAC Championship game vs. Castleton.

Taylor O'Connor scored the Chargers lone goal in the game at the 57:33 mark with a unassisted goal to close out the scoring in the game for both teams.

Dumayne registered ten saves in the lost. Anne Marie Provencal made four saves to pick up her second win on the season.

The Eagles outshot the Chargers 20-11 and Colby-Sawyer edge out Husson by one in penalty corners, 10-9.

Husson will host second seeded University of Maine at Farmington on Saturday, November 7 to determine who will receive the NAC's automatic qualifier into the 2015 NCAA DIII Championship Tournament. The Beavers defeated third seeded Thomas earlier in the day by a score of 2-1. The game time will be announced at a later time.
