Box Score Biddeford, ME - Husson University field hockey dropped a non-conference game to the University of New England, 3-2, on Wednesday evening. The visiting Eagles went down 1-0 just seven minutes into the match after a Nicole Matarozzo goal, but the team rallied with back-to-back goals from Annika Durrell (Livermore, ME) and Taylor Shaw (Plymouth, ME) to take a 2-1 lead heading into half. Durrell's goal was assisted by Olivia Plaisted (Hampden, ME), and Libby Kain (Dexter, ME) assisted Shaw.
Heading into the second half, Husson held the 2-1 lead until Beth Sullivan tied it up in the 55th minute. Olivia Madore scored the gamewinner to put the Nor'easters up 3-2 in the 58th minute, and that score would hold.
UNE outshot Husson 21-7 on the night and had six penalty corners to Husson's one. Abby Greenleaf (Newfield, ME) made nine saves for the Eagles, and Holly Smith made three saves for the Nor'easters.
Husson will continue their away stretch at Springfield College on Saturday, September 6, at 11 AM.
