Baseball Handed Pair Of Losses At Endicott

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Beverly, MA - Husson baseball lost two games at the hands of the Endicott Gulls on Saturday. The Eagles were outmatched and out-hit on the afternoon en route 15-5 and 13-4 losses.

Game 1:

The Eagles came out strong in game one, scoring four runs in the top of the first frame to take an early lead. J.T. Whitten and Josh Gaudette both hit two-run home runs scoring Pat Thibodeau and Kyle Bishop.

The Gulls came back in the bottom of the second with five runs of their own to take the lead 5-4. Endicott hit three doubles in the inning along with a sac fly from Cam Farnham.

Endicott added four more runs in both the fourth and the fifth and one more in the sixth on a Steve Morganelli homer for their 15 runs on 19 hits.

The Eagles tacked on their fifth in the top of the sixth on a bases loaded error by the shortstop, scoring Gaudette, advancing Dylan Foster to second and Cody McInnis to third.

Brandon Reilly took the loss for Husson in three innings while Zac Poland moved to 5-0 with the win in four innings of six-hit, four-run ball.

Game 2:

The second contest of the twin bill was more of the same story from game one. This time Endicott scored four runs in the first to jump to an early lead.

Brandon Gendreau hit a sac fly in the top of the next inning to score Kyle Bishop and Foster hit an infield single back to the pitcher scoring Andrew Curran. Seth Freudenberger advanced on the same play to third and scored on a Pat Thibodeau infield single to cut the lead to 4-3.

Husson added another run to tie the game in the third. Curran got in the action once again, doubling down the left field line to score Kyle Bishop.

That would do it, however, for the Eagles as the Gulls scored runs again in the fourth, sixth, seventh and eighth. Endicott did well to hold the Husson offense in the final innings with relief performances from Davarn Nova and Eric Nagle, while Corbin Hyde earned the win in 2.1 innings.

Husson falls to 16-11 with the loss, while the #3 team in the New England region, Endicott, moves to 21-9.
