Box Score

Gorham, ME - Husson men's lacrosse saw its three-game winning streak snapped as first year Tyler Jamison (West Gardiner, ME) and sophomore Austin Watts (Westbrook, ME) each scored four goals to lead the University of Southern Maine Huskies to a 15-2 victory over the visiting Eagles in non-conference men's lacrosse action Tuesday afternoon at Hannaford Field.

The win improved the Huskies overall record to 2-6 on the season. The Eagles fell back to .500 at 3-3.

For Husson, senior Mark Nardelli (Norwood, MA) and junior Vinny Visconti (North Andover, MA) scored the goals. Senior goalie Eric Lund (Mansfield, MA) had 15 saves.

Junior Burleigh Desjardins (Brunswick, ME) added three goals while rookie Keegan Smith (West Gardiner, ME) dished out three assists for the Huskies. First year Seth Wing (West Gardiner, ME) chipped in a pair of goals.

Sophomore goalie Ryan Jurgelevich (Portland, ME) stopped 10 shots over 51 minutes to get his second win of the season. Junior Kevin Pitts (Scarborough, ME) played the final nine minutes and did not register a save.

Nardelli gave the visitors a 1-0 lead just short of five minutes into the first quarter, and the lead held up until 5:00 remained. Over the final five minutes, the Huskies got goals from Wing, Jamison, Desjardins and Watts to take a 4-1 advantage after one quarter.

The Huskies outscored the Eagles 4-0 in the second quarter to extend their lead to 8-1 at halftime. Wing scored the first goal, followed by a pair of markers from Desjardins, before Watts netted the final goal with 2:53 to play in the quarter.

Jamison made it nine straight USM goals early in the third period. Visconti snapped the string of USM goals at 6:53 to make it 9-2, but that would be the last Eagles goal.

The Huskies scored three times in a span of 1:16 late in the third quarter to extend their margin to 12-2. Junior defender Spencer Tuttle (Kennebunk, ME) scored his first goal of the campaign followed in rapid succession by Watts and first year Luke Johnas (North Bennington, VT/).

Southern Maine outshot Husson 49-22 in the game and won the battle of ground balls 40-24. Jamison had a game-high six ground balls for USM while Visconti, junior James Seager (Gilford, NH) and sophomore Brett Martin (Topsham, ME) had four ground balls apiece for Husson.

Southern Maine is back in action on Saturday (1:00 p.m.) hosting Salem State University for a Little East Conference match. Husson travels to New England College on Saturday (1:00 p.m.) for a North Atlantic Conference game.
