Box Score Auburndale, FL - Kyle Bishop went 2-2 with three RBI, two runs and a home run for the Eagles en route to a impressive 14-3 win over Lesley University Monday evening at Lake Myrtle Park. Husson batted a cool 12-40 on the day for a .300 average, while earning all 14 runs.
The five first inning runs Husson scored were all they would need. Pat Thibodeau and Dylan Foster both walked, J.T. Whitten singled with Thibodeau being thrown out at third and Dennis Meehan reached on a passed ball scoring Foster.
Bishop then stepped in and deposited a pitch over the left field wall to push the lead the 4-0. Brandon Gendreau singled to right after a Jordan Carter strikeout and Benjamin McLain doubled to center to score Gendreau to make it 5-0.
The Eagles weren't easy on Lesley pitchers, knocking out starter Matt Gianoni after 2.1 innings. Eight of the Eagles' runs were charged to Gianoni after reliever Ryan Haas came in and walked three straight before being relieved by Jeff Landry. Landry had struggles of his own allowing five earned on three hits and a walk in under two innings.
It was a different story for Husson pitching, however. Ryan Rebar started the game for Husson going five innings, allowing a single hit with three walks while striking out five. Ben Walls pitched the next two frames and allowed the three Lesley runs with only one of which earned. The trio of Ben Holmes, Zak Kochis and Dennis Meehan combined for one walk and four strikeouts in the final two innings to clinch the win for Husson.
Along with Bishop, Gendreau and Whitten both had two hits for the Eagles as Whitten managed a game-high four RBI in the win.
Husson will be back in action tomorrow, Tuesday the 11th, as they take on Becker in a home and away doubleheader at 1:00 and 3:30 from Winter Haven, Florida before having the day off Wednesday the 12th.
Husson's final contests of their spring Florida schedule conclude Thursday against Wartburg and a doubleheader with Suffolk on Friday before traveling home to Bangor.
