Bangor, ME - Husson University field hockey shut out Castleton 5-0 in the Eagles' much-anticipated home opener on Saturday night. With the win, the Eagles move to 2-0 in NAC play and 4-5 overall. Castleton falls to 0-7 on the season and 0-2 in the league.

Taylor Shaw (Plymouth, ME) put the Eagles on the board in the sixth minute in what would end up being the game winner off an assist from Kayla Royer (Greene, ME). Hanna Jordan scored the Eagles' second goal in the 24th minute, and Taylor Lovley (Newport, ME) made it 3-0 heading into the half with an unassisted goal in the 26th minute.

Libby Kain (Dexter, ME) scored Husson's fourth goal, and Sarah Eastman (Dexter, ME) closed out the scoring at 5-0 with a goal in the 60th minute. The Eagles oushot the Spartans 24-8 and had 14 penalty corners to Castleton's nine. 

Abby Greenleaf (Newfield, ME) was solid in net for the Eagles, turning away all eight shots she faced. Jess Galatioto made nine saves for the Spartans.

Husson head coach Madeline Hoeppner said of the win, "We played a great game against Castleton. We worked as a team and were able to connect passes. It is great that we are finally able to execute on offense, and Abby played a great game in cage, making impressive clears and stops."

The Eagles will host another home game when Bowdoin comes to the Winkin Complex on Wednesday, October 8. Game time is 7:00 PM.
