Box Score Castine, ME – After 110 minutes of women's soccer Wednesday night Husson University and Maine Maritime played to a 0-0 draw in double overtime. Both the Mariners and Eagles had scoring chances in overtime but couldn't close it out in the North Atlantic Conference opener for both teams.
Eagle goalkeeper Jess Poulin (Albion, ME) was solid in net, stopping all the shots she faced including a few burgeoning chances by the Mariners offense.
The back line was, as it has continued to be all season, impressive for Husson in the physical match-up.
Offensively the Eagles were able to muster up a few promising scoring opportunities but could not break into the goal guarded by Mariner goalkeeper Taylor O'Malley.
"Frustratingly, we failed to find the back of the net tonight, despite a dominant offensive effort," said head coach Carly Gettler, "We played great soccer from back to front and put in a solid team effort, and that's something we can be proud of as we move deeper into conference play.
The Eagles are now 2-4-1 overall and 0-0-1 in NAC play. Husson will host another NAC opponent in University of Maine at Farmington, this Saturday, September 21st at 7:30 PM.
