Box Score Bangor, ME- Husson men's lacrosse advances to the North Atlantic Conference Semifinals with their 11-2 win over Thomas College, Saturday afternoon at Boucher Field.
Mitch Heaps (York, PA) scored his 150th goal of his Husson career in his 4 goal, 2 assist performance.
Dillon Shaw (Augusta, ME) put the Eagles on the board first on an Alex Ryan (Northfield, NH) pass with seconds remaining in the first quarter.
Husson added 6 goals in the second quarter; 3 coming from Heaps. Chris Pelletier (Rome, ME), Nolan Brown (Waterford, CT), and Brandon Corbo (Merrimack, NH) got the other goals before heading into half time up 7-0.
Thomas got on the board in the 3rd quarter when Parker Chute and Sean Machin each scored goals. The Eagles matched the two goals in the quarter with their own coming from Corbo and Vinny Visconti (North Andover, MA) making it 9-2.
Corbo and Heaps both added goals in the final quarter to tame the Terriers 11-2.
John Hooper III (Wakefield, RI) had another outstanding performance in net making 7 saves. Husson led the game in shots, face offs won, and ground balls, while causing less turnovers.
"It took us a while to get going but we had several players step up in unsettled situations and that changed the flow of the game," said Head Coach Sean Murphy, "There are certainly areas in which we need to improve but we're excited about moving forward in tournament play."
The Eagles advance to the NAC Semifinals to face New England College this upcoming Wednesday May 1st. Game time has not been set yet.
