Husson Baseball Takes Two More from Lyndon to Close Weekend

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Lyndon Center, VT - Husson upped its overall record to 18-16 and its mark in the North Atlantic Conference to 13-5 with a four-game sweep of Lyndon over the weekend. The Eagles won by scores of 19-7 and 15-4 Sunday. The losses drops the Hornets to 2-24 overall and 2-14 in NAC play.

Game 1: Husson 19, Lyndon 5

Husson took advantage of 10 Lyndon errors to post a lopsided victory. Dan Whitney (Bethel, ME) earned the win for the Eagles and Brandon Gendreau (Brewer, ME) pounded out three hits to lead Husson's 15-hit attack.

Pat Thibodeau (Caribou, ME) and Dylan Foster (Oakland, ME) got the scoring started in the top of the first, and Kyle Bishop (Waterville, ME) and Shawn Smith (Winterport, ME) added runs in the third and fourth innings to give Husson an early lead.

Lyndon responded in the bottom of the fourth with three runs, but Husson dashed the Hornets' hopes with a seven run fifth inning and an eight run sixth inning. Lyndon scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh, but they were too little too late.

Mason Brewer was saddled with the loss, allowing three earned runs on nine hits while fanning six. Dylan Newton's seventh inning grand slam was the lone bright spot for Lyndon.

Game 2: Husson 15, Lyndon 4

Husson continued its torrid hitting in the nightcap of Sunday's twin bill, hammering out 16 hits en route to its 13th conference win of the season.

The Eagles went up 13-0 across the first four innings before the Hornets got on the board. Lyndon scored two runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth before Husson closed out the game with an additional two runs in the seventh inning.

Tim Nason (Bucksport, ME) went six innings to get the win, allowing three earned runs while striking out one. Thibodeau and Smith had three hits each for the winners, while Dylan Newton collected two for Lyndon. Zach Hatin took the loss.

Husson baseball will next host Thomas in NAC action on Wednesday, April 24, at 5:00 and 7:30 PM.
