Husson Cruises Past Beavers

Bangor, ME – The Eagles dominated conference opponent University of Maine at Farmington Saturday afternoon at Boucher field, sailing to a victory, 15-3.

The first half was all Eagles, Mitch Heaps (York, PA) scored 4 goals, Chris Pelletier (Rome, ME) had a pair, while Matt Tabler (Cantonsville, MD) and Dillon Shaw (Augusta, ME) added one goal each to head into half up 8-0.

Beavers goalie Ben Altmaier was peppered with shots, saving 10 of the 18 shots he faced in the first half.

Eagles goalie John Hooper III (Wakefield, RI) stopped all 2 shots he faced in the first half before turning the net over to Eric Lund (Mansfield, MA) who played the majority of the 2nd half, before being relieved with just over 5 minutes left in the game by Riley Costello (Burlington, VT). 

Alex Ryan (Northfield, NH) resumed scoring for the Eagles, scoring unassisted at 9:32 remaining the in the third. Brandon Corbo (Merrimack, NH) added a pair in the second half of the game, while Aaron Weinstein (Concord, NH) and Connor Hudacko (Jackson, NJ) each notched a score for the Eagles, making it 14-0.

The Beavers weren't about to settle for a shutout, Jake Linkletter added a goal for UMF with just over 7 minutes remaining in the game making it 14-1.

Jack White (Marston Mills, MA) increased the score to 15-1 for the Eagles, and Sean Berce answered with another Beaver goal making it 15-2.  TC Peters found the net with 7 seconds remaining, setting the score to 15-3, but their last minute efforts fell short.

Heaps was the high scoring Eagle with 5 goals. Husson also led in ground balls 46-15, and face offs won 18-21, and 56-19 in shots.

Altamier stopped 6 shots in the second half. Hooper ended with 2, Lund had 5 and Costello allowed two goals.

The Eagles improve to 2-3 on the season and clinch their first North Atlantic Conference win of the season to be 1-0. They will travel to Clark this Wednesday, March 27th to play a 6:00 PM game.
