WATERVILLE, Maine – The North Atlantic Conference released its postseason awards for men's lacrosse on Thursday and Husson University had two major award recipients.
Junior Kiernan Field was selected as the conference player of the year and to the all-conference first team after a stellar first year with the Eagles. Field tallied 68 goals in 16 games played for the Eagles with 22 assists, 28 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers. The Haymarket, Virginia native finished the regular season and conference tournament ranked second in all of division III in goals per game with 4.31, in addition to fifth in the country with his 68 total goals.
Sophomore Owen Giorgio was named the NAC Defensive Player of the Year and all-conference first team after a standout season anchoring the Eagles' back line. He led the team with 97 ground balls and 43 caused turnovers, ranking second in the conference and 11th nationally with 2.87 caused turnovers per game. Giorgio also contributed offensively with 17 assists (1.13/game, 10th in the NAC) and nine goals on 24 shots on goal, showcasing his all-around impact on the field.
Also earning an all-conference selection for Husson was freshman Matt Richardson. Starting all 16 games this year for the Eagles, Richardson scooped up 26 ground balls and caused 18 turnovers in his first year in the green and gold to earn a spot on the all-conference second team.
Additionally for the Eagles, sophomore Drew Clinch was named to the all-sportsmanship team.
