Box Score New London, NH – Husson women's soccer fell to Colby-Sawyer College 1-0 Tuesday afternoon to end their run in the NAC Tournament.
The two teams played a hard fought, scoreless, 76 minutes of play, with Colby-Sawyer planting over a dozen shots on goal.
Unfortunately, Husson (7-11-2) was outdone by a last minute goal on the foot of Colby-Sawyer's Adrienne Bender who snuck the ball just under the cross bar, and above the fingers of Husson goalie Jess Poulin (Albion, ME). The set up pass coming from Sarah Little, with the goal coming in the 77th minute.
Offensively, seniors Courtney Hill (Calais, ME), Becca Jones (Newmarket, NH), junior MJ Boyce (Bangor, ME) and sophomore Katie Cyr (Hampden, ME) were the only Eagles able to get shots on net.
Poulin was strong in net, stopping 14 shots, while Charger goalie Karley Hamilton stopped 3 shots.
"I am so proud of our team--they've played with grit, heart, class, and passion all season, and today's performance was a culmination of all those things and a tremendous display of fight," said Head Coach Carly Gettler, "We're all sad to see this season come to a close, but we couldn't have gone out in a much stronger way."
The top seeded Chargers improve to 18-3 overall and will host #2 Castleton (12-7-1) for the NAC Championship Saturday, November 9th.
