Box Score Castleton, VT - Husson field hockey fell to Castleton on Saturday by a final of 6-0 in a battle of the top two teams in the NAC. Husson managed 15 shots, six of which on goal, but weren't able to capitalize on any of their chances. Maicee Gustin earned 18 saves on the afternoon in the effort.
Castleton scored twice in the first half by way of Rachel Preusser and added her third in the 53rd minute in the second. Blake Wardwell scored a hat trick of her own, caging goals in the 54th, 59th and 62nd minutes to make it 6-0.
Castleton outshot Husson 39-15 in the contest and also held a 21-11 advantage in penalty corners. Gustin took the loss for the Eagles, allowing all six goals while making the 18 saves.
Britt Mellor, Taylor Lovely and Sabrina Vaillancourt all had three shots on the day at Spartan Stadium. Mellor put two of hers on net to lead the Eagles.
The Eagles will travel to Simmons tomorrow for their final regular season and NAC matchup. Game time is 1:00pm.
