Box Score Bangor, ME- Husson Women's Soccer lost in heartbreaking fashion Wednesday night to Colby College 1-0 in double overtime at Boucher Field.
This was a huge night defensively for Husson as they were able to stop 32 shots. Sophomore goalkeeper Jess Poulin (Albion, Maine) had 17 saves in a tremendous effort.
It wasn't until the 108th minute that Colby was able to sneak the ball in the net past Poulin. With just a little less than 3 minutes to go in the second overtime Sophomore Maddie Tight scored on a pass from Freshman Emma Marjollet (Hingham, MA).
"Tonight was such a disappointing result after our team put forth such a phenomenal effort. Colby was a strong, talented team, and we matched up with them the whole game. Our goal tonight was to make an impression, and we were definitely successful in that endeavor." Said Coach Carly Gettler after the game, "Husson women's soccer showed a tremendous amount of heart and fight tonight, and we are fired up for our two conference matches over the weekend."
This weekend Husson will travel to Johnson State (6-3) on Saturday (September 29th) to play a 3:30PM match. Then to Lyndon State (2-6) on Sunday (September 30th) for a 2:30PM start time.
