Box Score 2 Waterville, ME - The Husson University baseball team dropped a pair of North East Athletic Conference (NEAC) East Division contests to the host Terriers of Thomas College on Tuesday. The Eagles fell by scores of 7-1 and 2-1 in the double header and currently sit at 7-9 on the season with a conference record of 4-2. Thomas improves to 10-9 (5-1 NEAC) with the victories.
In the first game, Husson got off to the quick 1-0 lead in the second inning when Benjamin McLain singled to score Nick Lancisi for the Eagles only run. The Terriers were held scoreless until they tacked on four runs in the fourth to take the lead for good with RBI's from Joshua Gray, Tim Locke, and Thomas Cameron. The Terriers would go on to add three more runs in the sixth with RBI's fromTaylor Livingston, Wes Perreault and Ethan Hurley. Cameron and Livingston both had two hits and one RBI each to lead the Terriers to the 7-1 victory over the Eagles in game one of the doubleheader.
Game two was a low scoring affair as both pitchers threw the ball well. The games three runs were all scored in the third inning and once again it was Husson that jumped out to the 1-0 lead. Kevin Rennick started the top of the third inning for the Eagles by drawing a walk followed by a Dylan Foster single to advance Rennick to second. After both runners were advanced by a pass ball, Brandon Gendreau grounded into a fielder's choice scoring Rennick and giving Husson the 1-0 lead. Thomas would not trail for long as in the bottom of the third inning, Thomas would grab two runs on RBI's from Hurley and Gray to. Pitcher Pat McEwen threw six strong innings for the Eagles giving up two earned runs on seven hits while striking out one.
Husson has a busy schedule this week, and will make the short trip up to Orono to take on the University of Maine Black Bears at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, before returning home on Thursday for a conference double-dip with the University of Maine-Farmington, beginning at 12:00. The Terriers' next game will be Friday as they travel to Vermont for a four game series to take on the Hornets of Lyndon State College at 2:00 pm.
