Eagles Turn Back Beavers in NAC Opener

Farmington, ME - Husson University posted a 10-2 victory over the University of Maine at Farmington in the North Atlantic Conference men's lacrosse opener for both teams this afternoon at Prescott Field. The Beavers remained winless at 0-4 (0-1) and are scheduled to visit Wheelock College Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. for a non-conference game. The Eagles evened their record at 4-4 (1-0).

Cris Pelletier (Rome, ME) tallied three goals to lead Husson with Nick Brown (Fort Worth, TX) adding two goals and two assists and Wayne Stubbs (Keene, NH) a goal and an assist. The Eagles also received a goal each from Nolan Brown (Waterford, ME), Mitch Heaps (York, PA), Tim Holt (South Portland, ME) and Kevin Nolan (Norwood, MA.).

Matt Roy (Kents Hill, ME) scored a goal and assisted on another for the Beavers, while Ben Altmaier (Wilton, ME) netted his first collegiate goal and Kris Gagne (Sabattus, ME) assisted on Roy's score.

John Hooper III (Wakefield, RI) and Eric Lund (Mansfield, MA) split time in goal for Husson. Hooper stopped a pair of shots, while Lund recorded five saves. Jon Sullivan (Rutland, VT) collected a team-high eight ground balls in the win with Dillon Shaw (Augusta, ME) successfully winning 10 of 11 face-offs.

Hunter Rowell (West Paris, ME) worked the first half in goal for UMF with six saves. Altmaier manned the pipes for the bulk of the second half, stepping aside for a brief period with Aaron Burr (Brooklyn, CT) filling in. Altmaier made four saves and Burr one. Mike Foley (Byfield, MA) notched game-highs of 11 ground balls and four caused turnovers for the Beavers.

The Eagles are on the road again on Sunday, when they travel to Gorham, ME to take on the University of Southern Maine at 1:00 pm. Farmington is back in action on Wedesday the 28th when they travel to Wheelock for a 3:30 pm start.
