Box Score Farmington, ME- Husson University edged University of Maine at Farmington Wednesday afternoon 1-0 clinching another valuable conference win at Prescott Field.
First Year Hannah Clough (Mount Vernon, ME) put Husson on the board in the 3rd minute of the game scoring an unassisted goal.
For the next 87 minutes the teams battled hard but it remained 1-0 Husson. UMF outshot Husson, 17-4 could not get anything past Eagles Sophomore goalkeeper Jess Poulin (Albion, ME). Poulin finished the day with seven saves; UMF goalkeeper Beth Lebel (Lewiston, Maine) had 1 save in the match.
"This was an important win for us on the road and looking toward the postseason. Hannah scored a great early goal for us, and we stuck it out for the win." said Coach Carly Gettler after the victory, "It wasn't our most beautiful performance, but we got the result we needed."
Husson improves to 7-1 in conference play with a 7-11 overall record. They will host Colby-Sawyer Saturday, October 20th, at 5:00PM when they will also honor their Seniors in their final game of the regular season.
