Bangor, ME- The Husson University Women met a resilient New England College women's team tonight at Newman Gymnasium. The first half was all Eagles as they lead throughout, going into the break with a 31-22 lead. The second half featured a battle between the two teams which started when the Pilgrims came back to tie to the game and took their first two point lead around the half-way point in the second half. The Eagles were able to slow the tempo and hang on to a hard fought win 60-56. The win was more special due to the nail biting fashion and the fact that NEC was undefeated coming into contest.

The Eagles were led by Brianna Hanscom who put up impressive 15 points and 15 rebounds, leading the team in both categories. Vanessa Sanderson contributed a solid 14 points going 6-7 overall. Stephanie Comstock totaled 11 points and 8 rebounds. Husson played well together the final few minutes handling the full court press and making the key foul shots. This combined with a dominating first half propelled the Eagles to a win to stay undefeated in the NAC.

The Pilgrims were led by Taylor Burgess who put up 18 points and 6 rebounds going 9-16 overall. Danika Johnson went 4-4 from the line and put up 15 total points. NEC made both free throws in the second half. The Pilgrims struggled from the floor going 22 of 71 for 31% overall.

Senior leading scorer Rachel Williams came off the bench for NEC in the second half scoring all nine of her points in the frame after seeing no time in the first. Williams 17 second half minutes and tenacity were the difference in the Pilgrim's late comeback.

The Eagles play again tomorrow, Saturday the 7th at 3pm against Colby-Sawyer at Newman Gymnasium as NEC travels to Castine to take on Maine Maritime at 3pm as well.
