Box Score 2 The Castleton Spartans took two from the Husson Eagles in a North East Athletic Conference game at Husson University's Winkin Complex. With a 2-1 score in game one and a 4-1 win in the nightcap, the Spartans improve to 5-13 (2-2 NEAC) while the Eagles fall to 13-10 (2-2 NEAC).
Game one remained scoreless until the sixth inning when Aaron Zrenda drove in Ryan Zielinski off a ground rule-double. Husson responded in the bottom of the sixth following an RBI single by Shawn Smith that plated Ethan Guerette.
The game remained knotted at 1-1 until the tenth inning when Jack Lancelin scored on an infield error.
Tyler Erickson earned the complete game win, pitching ten innings, striking out 13, allowing five hits and one run. Husson's Nate Adams shouldered the loss. In his ten innings of work, Adams struck out 7, allowed 8 hits and two runs.
In game two, Husson scored in the bottom of the first when Jake Arthers scored on an error. Castleton immediately responded in the top of the second inning with a sacrifice fly by Peter Wagner that plated Zack Mayo.
Castleton tacked on an additional run in the fourth inning when Mayo scored on a passed ball. The Spartans scored two more in the sixth inning off an RBI single by Lancelin and an unearned run from a throwing error.
On the mound, Steve Harrington was credited with the complete game win, striking out 8, allowing 6 hits and 1 run. Husson's Kyle Leeman received the loss for his 5.2 innings of work.
