Husson University baseball team split a North Eastern Atlantic Conference East Division double-header with the University of Maine at Farmington. Due to impending poor weather, today's contest was moved to Husson's Winkin Complex where the turf surface afforded the opportunity to play. The Eagles claimed the first game with a 3-0 victory however an extra-inning walk off single by Farmington's Matt Levine lifted the Beavers over the Eagles 3-2. Despite the split, the Eagles remain in first in the NEAC East Division and will be the likely host of the NEAC East Division Championship on the weekend of April 30th.
In game one, the Eagles reached the scoreboard in the top of the first inning off a squeeze bunt by Kevin Rennick that plated Kyle Vanidestine. Husson tacked on an additional run in the top of the fourth inning following a leadoff triple by Sean Smith and an RBI single by Chris Maguire. The sixth inning featured the game's final run. Ben McLain stole third and reached home on another squeeze bunt by Rennick. The game would end with a 3-0 Husson shutout.
Husson's Dan Beatham pitched the complete game win with seven strikeouts and five hits in seven innings of work. Brandon Gallagher shouldered the loss for Maine Farmington with seven innings pitched, two strikeouts, and six hits allowed.
The twin-bill was an extra-inning rain soaked contest that extended to the bottom of the eighth inning. Husson scored two runs in an error-riddled fourth inning. Farmington responded in the bottom of the fourth inning when Matt Levine scored on a error. The Beavers tacked on an additional run to knot the game at 3-3 off an RBI single by Jack MacVane that plated Connor McNeill.
Maine Farmington's Matt Levine hit a walk-off single to right field that enabled MacVane to score and seal the Beaver victory.
In game two, Casey Ashey tallied the win with an eight inning performance that featured four strikeouts, five hits, and two runs. Husson's Ryan Arsenault received the loss for his 1.1 innings of work.
