Box Score WATERVILLE, Maine --- Courtney Erskine (Turner, Maine) had a
pair of goals as the Colby College field hockey team scored two
goals in each half on the way to a 4-1 win against Husson
University in non-conference play Wednesday night at Bill Alfond
Field.
The Mules move to 1-1 overall heading into Saturday's 11
a.m. home game with Wesleyan University. Husson falls to 1-2 and
will play host to University of Maine at Farmington on Sunday at 1
p.m.
Heather Quadir (Medfield, Mass.) scored 6:15 into the opening
half off a pass from Meryl Poulin (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) to put
the Mules ahead for good. Erskine tallied unassisted with 5:50 to
play in the first half for a 2-0 lead at the break.
Colby went up 3-0 when Erskine knocked in her second goal of the
game off a feed from Quadir just 5:34 into the second half.
Charlotte Deavers (Huntington Bay, N.Y.), a first-year forward,
scored her first collegiate goal with 10:39 left in the
contest.
Husson stopped the shutout when Helen Berry (Belfast, Maine)
scored with 3:41 to play.
Liz Fontaine (Wilbraham, Mass.) stopped four shots for Colby,
while Kristen Capen (Leeds, Maine) made 10 saves.
