The Eagles improve to 23-19 overall on the season and play
Castleton
State College tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. in game six of the NEAC
East
Division Tournament. If necessary, game seven will be played at
1:30
p.m. to decide the champion of the tournament. The Terriers'
season
ends at 14-23 overall.
With the scored tied 12-12, Tom Crews (Bangor, ME) led off the top
of
the tenth inning with a single to left field, Jake Arthers
(Belfast, ME)
followed with a single to center and Corey Cushing (Brewer, ME)
dropped
down a successful sac bunt to advance both runners in scoring
position.
Haverly-Johndro notched a single to right field to take a 13-12
lead.
Husson added three more insurance runs as Ethan Guerette (Wales,
ME)
roped an RBI single and Shawn Smith (Winterport, ME) laced a
two-run
single to right field to cap the scoring.
Kyle Leeman (Bangor, ME) closed the door in the bottom of the
tenth
with a 1-2-3 frame earning the win on one-and-two-thirds
innings
pitched, one hit, no runs, no walks and one strikeout. Cory Estes
(Old
Town, ME) suffered the loss throwing one-and-one-thirds innings,
giving
up five hits and four earned runs.
In the bottom of the eighth, Cody Vigue (Skowhegan, ME) tied
the
contest with a three-run bomb to left centerfield, his second
homer of
the game, plating teammates Tom Cameron (Jackson, ME) and Mike
Busa
(Carver, MA).
The Eagles scored in every inning but the eighth and ninth while
the
Terriers scored five runs in the bottom of the second inning in
the
highly offensive playoff contest.
Offensively for Husson, Guerette went 4-for-6 with two runs and
three
RBI, Smith was 4-for-7 at the plate with one run scored and two
runs
driven in, Crews went 3-for-5 with three runs and one RBI and
Arthers
finished the game with a 4-for-5 performance at the plate with
four runs
and two runs knocked in.
Vigue led Thomas offensively with a 3-for-6 day at the plate
including
two home runs and five runs batted in. Tom Desjardins (Fort Kent,
ME)
went 4-for-6 with four RBI, Busa was 3-for-6 with two runs scored
and
Josh Nickerson (Stockton Springs, ME) had a 2-for-6 showing with
one
homer, one run scored and one RBI.
