Box Score Castleton, VT – Tom Desjardins (Fort Kent, ME) went
3-for-6 with two runs scored and three RBI to pace a Thomas offense
that pounded out 19 hits in a 15-3 win over Husson University in
game two of the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) East
Division Tournament on Friday evening.
The Terriers improve to 14-21 on the season and play Castleton
State College in game four of the NEAC East Division Tournament
tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. The Eagles fall to 21-19 and play Lyndon
State College in game three of the tournament at 9:00 a.m.

Chris Farrar (Sidney, ME) earned the win pitching
seven-and-two-thirds innings allowing nine hits, three earned runs,
three walks and four strikeouts. Nathan Adams (Frankfort, ME) was
dealt the loss throwing four-and-one-thirds innings, giving up nine
hits, eight runs (all earned), four walks and one strikeout.
With two outs in the first, Thomas jumped out to a 3-0 lead with
some clutch hitting from Josh Nickerson (Stockton Springs, ME) and
Mike Busa (Carver, MA).
Nickerson ripped a two-run double to deep left centerfield
plating teammates Tim Costa (Pelham, NH) and Ben Goodall (Norway,
ME). Busa followed with an RBI single to centerfield to cap off the
inning.
Tom Crews (Bangor, ME) cut into the lead in the bottom of the
second launching a 0-2 pitch to left field for a solo home run.
Earlier in the inning, the Terriers erased a leadoff single by
Chris Maguire (Bucksport, ME) with a beautiful 4-6-3 double play as
Costa flipped the ball to shortstop Jeffrey Richardson (Rochester,
NH) on the backhand and Richardson finished at first for the
twin-killing.
Thomas responded in the third with two runs as Cody Vigue
(Skowhegan,
ME) notched an opposite field RBI single to right and Busa
scored on a wild pitch to make it 5-1.
In the fifth, right fielder Danny Burke (New Haven, CT) chased
Adams out of the contest lining an RBI single to left centerfield
to push the gap to 6-1. Burke and Vigue extended the lead with a
perfectly executed double steal to make it 7-1 and Costa followed
with a base hit to right field for an 8-1 advantage.
Thomas tacked on four more runs in the seventh inning including
a two-run double to the left centerfield gap from Desjardins.
In the bottom half, the Terriers avoided a bases loaded one out
jam as catcher Kevin Rennick (Lincoln, RI) grounded into a 6-4-3
double play, their third of the game, to keep the score at 12-1.
Husson pushed across two runs in the bottom of the eighth as
Chase Daniels (Brewer, ME) and Crews worked walks to make it 12-3.
