Box Score 2 Bangor, ME - Husson University used stellar pitching in
game one and timely hitting in game two Saturday afternoon at the
Winkin Complex to improve their record to 14-13 on the year and 7-1
in conference.
Husson's Ryan Arsenault (So., Portland,
ME) pitched a complete-game gem in game one, surrendering
only 3 hits and a walk, with 5 strikeouts in 7 innings of work.
Arsenault is now 3-2 on the season with a 3.31 ERA in five starts.
Husson was led offensively once again by the bat of Chris
Maguire (Jr., Bucksport, ME) who went 2-4 with 2 RBI and a
run scored.
The bright spot for the Terriers in game one came in the
form of Eric Lee (So., Augusta, ME) who pitched 4
shutout innings in relief with 2 strikeouts and allowing only 3
hits.
Game two was a much different story seeing 3 lead changes
throughout the game, with Thomas tying the game for the second time
in the top of the 7th inning. The Eagles took their first lead on
unearned runs in the 1st inning only to see Thomas score three of
their own in the top of the 2nd to go ahead.
The Eagles pushed across runs in both the 3rd and 4th, to
take a 4-3 lead heading into the late innings. Tim Costa
(Sr., Pelham,
NH) drove in pinch
runner Cody Vigue (Fy., Skowhegan,
ME) for Thomas to tie the score in the top of the 7th
4-4.
With two outs in the bottom of the 7th and extra innings
looming, Kyle Vanidestine (So., Bangor, ME)
singled in pinch runner Chase Daniels (Fy., Brewer,
ME) from 2nd to walk off with the 5-4 victory.
Husson improves to 14-13 on the season and 7-1 in NEAC
East play and will host Colby College at the Winkin Complex this
Tuesday, April 6th at 4pm.
