Box Score 2 Bangor, ME – Husson University dropped two games to Saint
Joseph's College 8-2 and 11-1 in non-conference action at
Husson's Winkin Stadium. Saint Joseph's Pat Moran
(Sr., Winterport, ME) hit a grand slam and tallied six RBI's
in the second game. With the sweep, the Monks improve to 11-7
while the Eagles fall to 11-12 ovearll and 4-0 in the
conference.
In Game one, Saint Joseph's Todd Keneborus (Jr., Hollis
Center, ME) put the Monks on the scoreboard in the first inning
with a two-run homerun that plated Chris Campbell (Jr., Rochester,
NH). The Monks followed with a three run second inning
sparked by an RBI triple by Mike Burdin (Sr., Gardiner, ME).
The Monks would tally two additional runs in the fourth inning when
Keneborus hit an RBI single to right field and Ben Grant-Roy (Sr.,
Biddeford, ME) hit a sacrifice fly to center field.
Husson responded in the bottom of the fourth inning with a
lead-off double by Ethan Guerette (Jr., Wales, ME) followed by an
RBI single by Chris Maguire (Jr., Orland, ME). The Eagles
would end the fourth inning trailing 7-1.
Saint Joseph's tacked on an additional run in the sixth
inning when Adams hit an RBI sacrifice fly to right field.
The Eagles pushed one run across the plate in the bottom of the
seventh when Tom Crews (Jr., Bangor, ME) grounded out to shortstop
and Maguire scored.
Saint Joseph's Kyle Dorr earned the win, pitching 5
innings and giving up 3 hits and 1 run. Ryan Walker (Jr.,
Hollis, ME) was credited with the loss for Husson.
Keneborous tallied 4 RBI's on his 4-3 game at the plate
that included a two-run homerun for the Monks. Husson'
s Maguire was 3-2 and recorded one RBI on the loss.
Saint Joseph's opened game two with a five run first
inning. Campbell scored off a walk followed by Moran's
grand slam homerun to left field. A three run home by Craig
Woodbrey (Sr., Gorham, ME) helped the Monks to a 6 run second
inning.
Husson would rally in the fifth inning with Guerette tripling to
right field and then scoring off a fielder's choice.
However the Monks' lead would prove insurmountable and the
game would end 11-1 in seven innings.
Saint Joseph's Chad Rafferty (Fy., Keene, NH) earned the
win while Husson's Bill Doherty (Fy., Scituate, MA) was
credited with the loss.
Husson returns to action on Friday, April 2 at home against
Thomas College. Game time is set for 1:00 PM.
