Box Score Reading, Pa. (Mar. 8, 2010) - Husson's Derrick Schlimm (Fy.,
Hanover, PA) scored two goals and had an assist in the Eagles 7-6
loss to Alvernia University. With the loss, the Eagles fall
to 0-2 in non-conference play.
For the second time this season the Crusaders jumped out to a
strong start and took a 4-1 lead after the first 15 minutes.
Giberson assisted on the Crusaders' second goal and score the last
one of the quarter for the three-goal cushion.
Husson scored the first goal of the second quarter then a pair
from Giberson put the Crusader up 6-2, but Husson scored the final
three goals of the quarter to close within one goal at halftime,
6-5. Four of the six goals scored in the quarter were on the
man advantage with two going each way. Husson was 2-for-8
with the extra man while the Crusaders were 3-for-13.
Husson scored the equalizer with just over a minute left in the
third quarter and Alvernia got the eventual game-winner from Jarrod
Wiedow(Flanders, N.J./Morristown Catholic) four minutes into the
fourth quarter.
Shupp made one save at the 6:21 mark of the fourth to preserve the
lead and the defense squashed a late threat as the Eagles nearly
got a golden opportunity in the last seconds.
Wiedow finished the night with two goals and two assists for
Alvernia. Derrick Schlimm scored two goals to lead the Eagles
while John Hooper made 16 saves in net.
