Box Score 2 Bangor, ME - Husson baseball picked up 4 wins over the weekend
to begin North Atlantic Conference play. The Eagles picked up
Sunday right where they left off Saturday, taking a 6-0 win in game
one over U. Maine Farmington and held on for a 4-3 victory in game
two.
Pitching was the story for Husson all weekend as Ryan
Arsenault (Jr., Portland, ME) paced the Eagles with a
complete game, two-hit shutout in game one Sunday. Arsenault only
allowed three Beavers on base while collecting five strikeouts and
dropping his ERA to 4.05 on the season.
Farmington starter Connor McNeill (So., Portland,
ME) allowed 9 hits and 5 earned runs as first baseman
Chris Maguire (Jr., Orland, ME) led the Eagles on
offense going 2-3 with 3 RBI and 2 runs, including a two-out,
two-run double in the 3rd inning to put Husson on the board. In the
5th, Maguire would double once again, scoring Ethan
Guerette (Jr., Wales, ME) and scored on the next play,
putting the Eagles up 6-0.
In game two, Kyle Leeman (Jr., Bangor, ME) gave
a strong outing for Husson going 6 and 2/3 innings, giving up 3
runs, all in the 7th, on 6 hits. Leeman also struckout five
lowering his season ERA to 7.36.
The Beavers would not go away easily in the 7th inning of game
two scoring all three runs on five of the six hits Leeman would
relinquish. With two outs Dan Beatham (Jr., Dexter,
ME) would replace Leeman on the mound and strikeout
Matt Levine (Jr., Pelham, NH) of Farmington to
seal the victory.
Farmington falls to 0-6 on the season and 0-4 in its first four
conference games. Husson improved its record to 11-10 (4-0 NAC) and
will host St. Joseph's College of Standish Thursday, April
1st for a doubleheader. First pitch of game one is slated for 1pm.
