Box Score BANGOR, ME – On the day that Shelby Bradford's
jersey was retired, the Husson Eagles Women's Soccer team
soared to a victory over Maine Maritime Academy, winning 4-0.
Husson dominated the shot count 25 to 8, scoring on 4 of
their 10 shots on goal. Maine Maritime had 5 shots on goal,
but failed to flourish on their attempts.
“Today was a great day for Husson Women's
Soccer,” said Head Coach Keith Bosley. “The
retirement of Shelby Bradford's jersey energized and united
the team. It reinforced to them the characteristics that we
aspire to as competitors. I was very proud of them
all.”
It only took 9:43 for Megan Clement (SR, Brunswick, ME) to score
a goal off a pass from Alexandria Laniewski (JR, Scarborough,
ME). Four minutes later, Megan Lajoie dribbled through
defenders and fired a shot by MMA goalie Lacey Jackson (SR, York,
PA).
Husson's Rebecca Jones (FY, Newmarket, NH) was one goal
short of a hat trick, scoring in the 61st and
64th minutes. Both goals were assisted by Michelle
Manning (SR, Hampden, ME).
When Husson scored their first 2 goals, it was clear they came
to win. The momentum was on their side the entire game and
they played as if they could not lose.
Husson won their fourth game in a row, improving their overall
record to 8-4 and their North Atlantic Conference record to
3-0. They will play their next game at Maine –
Farmington on Saturday, October 9, 2010.
Maine Maritime Academy drops to a 3-6-1 record and 1-2 in NAC
play. They will play their next game at home against Thomas
on Friday, October 8, 2010.
