Box Score

WATERVILLE, Maine—In Thomas College's final home game of the season, the men's lacrosse team was able to pull out a 9-7 victory over North Atlantic Conference rival Husson University to sweep the season series. The Terriers would earn the victory on Senior Day for PJ Strebel (Newport, NH) and Cliff Juntura (Topsham, ME) by outshooting the visiting Eagles 54-36 on the afternoon.

The win earns Thomas a regular season ending record of 4-6 (4-3 NAC), while Husson ends the program's first year with a 4-8 record (3-6 NAC).

Husson's Anthony Diaz (Fr. Brunswick, ME) would put the visitors on the board first, scoring with 8:48 remaining in the opening period. Thomas' Luke Collier (So. Sidney, ME) would square the game with 4:22 to go in the first, which is where the score would remain until the second period. Both goals occurred with man advantages.

Much of the second period went scoreless, until Husson was able to strike three times in the last 2:26 of the first half. Kyle Dwyer (Fr. Brunswick, ME) would score the initial go ahead goal, while Ben Landry (Fr. Lewiston, ME) would score the next two for the Eagles, giving them the 4-1 advantage going into the second half.

Thomas would pull themselves back into the game quickly in the second half behind three quick goals. Kolby Peckham (Jr. West Gardiner, ME) provided the first goal just thirty-seven seconds into the quarter on a man advantage. Justin Lawler (Fr. Oakland, ME) put the next in the back of the net at the 13:21 mark, while Collier added his second goal of the game at the 11:48 mark as the Terriers had another mad advantage. Diaz would stop the Terrier rally with a goal at 8:27, but Peckham would tie the game with 2:14 remaining in the third.

Strebel would give the Terriers their first lead of the game at the 11:52 mark in the final quarter, just to be answered twenty seconds later by the Eagles' Nick Brown (Fr. Sabattus, ME) when they had the man advantage. With the match squared away, Thomas would roll off another stretch of three straight goals, earning them the 9-6 edge. Lawler would score one, while Jeremy Parmley (So. Eliot, ME) would provide the other two in that stretch. Husson's Brown would score the final goal of the game with 5:35 remaining, which would end the game with a score of 9-7.

Goalkeeper Josh Colello (So. Yarmouth, ME) blocked away 21 of the Eagles shot attempts for the win, while Matt Linnell (Albion, ME) would save 16 for the visitors in the contest.
