Bangor, ME - The Castleton State College Spartans took both games of the double header against Husson University today. The Spartans won the first game 4-2 and the second game 2-0. With the two wins Castleton improves to 5-7 overall, and 2-0 in the NAC. Husson falls to 11-7 overall and 0-2 in the NAC.
In the first game, Ken Cook picked up the complete game win for the Spartans, as he pitched seven innings, giving up seven hits, two walks and two runs. Cook struck out eight. Ryan Arsenault also went the complete seven innings, but picked up the loss. Arsenault gave up six hits, three walks, three earned runs, while striking out five.
The Spartans were led by Billy Manley who had a two RBI single and also scored a run. Garrett Bissonnette also had an RBI single for Castleton. The Eagles were led by Chris Maguire who had two singles and one RBI. Nick Arthurs had a RBI single and Ethan Guerette doubled.
The Second game was also a pitching duel between Castleton State's Rob Turner and Husson University's Nate Adams. Rob Turner picked up the win going all seven innings while only giving up two runs and one walk. Turner finished with five strikeouts. Nate Adams picked up the tough loss as he also threw a complete game, giving up only two runs on five hits and two walks, while striking out four.
Castleton was led by Billy Manley who had an RBI double. Aaron Zrenda added an RBI single and three other Spartans had a single apiece. Husson was led by Ethan Guerette and Cody Haverly-Johndro who both singled.
Castleton and Husson's doubleheader has changed from 12:00 tomorrow, to 10:00 tomorrow morning.
