Eagles Soar by Becker 48-13

Leicester, Mass. Husson University set a school record with their 7th win of the season.  The running back duo of junior Julius Williams (Boston, MA) and sophomore Justin Lindie (Winslow, ME) combined for 406 all purpose yards and 6 touchdowns as the Eagles defeated the Becker Hawks 48-13 at Alumni Field today.

Husson's record improved to 7-2 and the Hawks dropped to 2-7 in the season finale for both teams. In 2009 both teams will compete in the newly formed North Atlantic Conference football division.

Husson scored just 1:15 into the game as Lindie ran 46 yards for a touchdown on the Eagles fourth play from scrimmage. Darren Gauthier's (Brunswick, ME) extra point was blocked by Becker's Gary Clark (Glastonbury, CT) to keep it a 6-0 score.

The Hawks were moving down the field on their first possession when quarterback Karrone Stanley (West Haven, CT) hit running back Paul Casimir (Miami, FL) for a 27 yard gain to the Husson 23 yard line. Husson's defense stripped Casimir of the ball and defensive back Kyle Vanidestin (Bangor, ME) recovered the ball for the Eagles.

Husson opened up the game in the second quarter scoring 28 points. Julius Williams had back to back touchdown runs of 1 yard and 27 yards to make the score 20-0. Williams finished the game with 193 rushing yards. Justin Lindie scored his second touchdown of the game with a special teams score on a 51 yard punt return to make the game 27-0.

Becker broke thru the scoreboard when quarterback Gabriel Prophet (Washington, DC) hit wide receiver Jacques Faublas (Canton, MA) streaking down the sidelines for a 45 yard touchdown reception. Husson bounced right back and scored just two minutes later when quarterback James McCandless (Hollywood, FL) ran 19 yards for a touchdown and a 34-6 Husson lead at halftime.

Justin Lindie picked up two more touchdowns in the third quarter. Lindie had runs of 3 yards and 20 yards to put the game out of reach. Justin finished with 105 rushing yards and 114 return yards.

Becker College senior wide receiver Acie Johnson (Lynn, MA) scored a ten yard touchdown to make the final 48-13.

Husson College never punted in the game and had almost a 2-to-1 advantage in total yards, 500-262. Becker held the edge in passing yards 210-94 and time of possession 33:19-26:41 over Husson.
