Box Score Bangor, ME – Saint Joseph College picked up a NAC win with
a shutout over Husson 2-0. The Monks move to 8-3 and 3-1 in NAC
play while Husson drops to 2-7 and 1-3 NAC.
Kayla Nowell (So, Bridgton, ME) scored the game winning goal when
she put home a rebound past Caroline Bochtler (So, Turner, ME).
Nowell fired a shot in front of the net which hit the post and
bounced back to her, she put it home to give Saint Joseph's
1-0 lead with less then two minutes left in the first half.
Bochtler kept the game scoreless when she denied Julia Ostrowski
(Jr, Albany, NY) on a penalty shot with 14 minutes into the game.
She finished with 6 saves against 11 shots.
Kelly Emerson (Sr, Vassalboro, ME) added an insurance goal 5:46
into the second half. Ostrowski served a corner which was played in
front of the net and Emerson put the loose ball home to make it
2-0.
The Eagles had numerous chances to score. Krystal Doughty (Sr,
Lisbon Falls, ME) hit the post on back to back shots 13 minutes
into the second half. Meaghan Johnson (Fy, Portland, ME) had the
shutout recording 7 saves against 15 shots. She was aided by two
defensive saves that prevent Husson goals.
Husson host Thomas College on Wednesday, October 15th at 7:00 pm
while Saint Joseph College hosts Colby College on Thursday, October
16 at 3:30 pm.
