Steve Waceken joined the Husson University women's basketball program as an assistant coach prior to the 2017-18 season and is known as a read & react offense guru.

CAREER AT A GLANCE:

  • Since joining coach Walker's staff in the fall of 2017, Waceken has helped the Eagles win three North Atlantic Conference Championships (2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20) and make three-straight NCAA Championship appearances (2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20). 
  • At Husson, Waceken has helped guide the Eagles to a 133-64 (.675) overall record with an impressive 87-12 (.879) mark in North Atlantic Conference contests.
  • Waceken has helped developed multiple All-North Atlantic Conference honorees - Kenzie Worcester (2017-18, 2018-19), Sami Ireland (2017-18), Joan Overman (2018-19, 2019-20), Megan Peach (2018-19, 2021-22), Sydney Allen (2019-20), Vanessa Duarte (2021-22, 2022-23) and Bailey Donovan (2019-20, 2021-22, 2022-23, 2023-24).
  • Has coached three North Atlantic Conference Player of the Year selections - Kenzie Worcester (2018-19), Bailey Donovan (2021-22, 2022-23), Jordyn Lengle (2024-25) and Hannah Richards (2024-25).
  • Has worked with three North Atlantic Conference Defensive Player of the Year - Joan Overman (2019-20) and Bailey Donovan (2022-23, 2023-24).
  • Has tutored one North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Year - Bailey Donovan (2019-20).
  • Has directed three North Atlantic Conference Tournament Most Valuable Players - Kenzie Worcester (2017-18, 2018-19) and Sydney Allen (2019-20).
  • Has guided multiple Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association All-State selections - Kenzie Worcester (2017-18, 2018-19), Bailey Donovan (2019-20, 2021-22, 2022-23, 2023-24) and Vanessa Duarte (2022-23).
  • Has mentored one Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association Rookie of the Year - Bailey Donovan (2019-20).
  • Has worked with one Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association Player of the Year - Bailey Donovan (2021-22).
  • Has tutored one Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association All-Rookie Team selection - Bailey Donovan (2019-20).
  • He has coached four New England Women's Basketball Association All-Region honorees -  Kenzie Worcester (2018-19) and Bailey Donovan (2021-22, 2022-23, 2023-24).

PERSONAL:
  • A native of  Millinocket, Maine (Stearns Senior/Junior High School).
  • He is currently employed at Dennis Paper & Foodservice as a district sales representative and is the owner of Rick’s Market in East Millinocket, Maine.
  • He currently resides in Millinocket, Maine and has four children: Jonathan, Jessica, Colby and Calli.
