Lauree Gott, the most successful (.929) head coach in team history by winning percentage, joined the Husson University women's basketball program as an assistant coach prior to the 2018-19 season, after previously serving as the team's head coach during the 1988-89 season.


CAREER AT A GLANCE:
  • During her first stint at Husson as the head coach, Gott led the Braves to a 26-2 mark, earning the program’s first-ever Western Maine Athletic Conference and NAIA District 5 Championships in 1988-89. The Braves fell one game short of reaching the program’s first-ever trip to the NAIA National Championship tournament, losing to St. Thomas Aquinas, 65-63, in the NAIA Bi-District Championship inside Newman Gym. Following the Braves’ first-ever 20-victory season, Gott was named the Western Maine Athletic Conference, NAIA District 5, and Maine Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women Coach of the Year. She saw two of her players receive postseason accolades; Peggy Riitano (NAIA All-District 5 and Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women All-State) and Sharon Siebert (NAIA All-American Honorable Mention, Kodak All-American Honorable Mention, NAIA All-District 5, All-Western Maine Athletic Conference, and NAIA District 5 All-Tournament Team).
  • During her time at Northeastern, Gott helped the Huskies post a 32-82 overall record, while coaching the 1992-93 North Atlantic Conference - known today as the American East Conference - Rookie of the Year.
  • Since returning to coach at Husson in the fall of 2018, Gott has helped the Eagles win two North Atlantic Conference Championships (2018-19, 2019-20) and make two-straight NCAA Championship appearances (2018-19, 2019-20). 
  • As an assistant coach, Gott has helped guide the Eagles to a 114-54 (.679) overall record with an impressive 73-8 (.901) mark in North Atlantic Conference contests.
  • Gott has helped developed multiple All-North Atlantic Conference honorees - Kenzie Worcester (2018-19), Joan Overman (2018-19, 2019-20), Megan Peach (2018-19, 2021-22), Sydney Allen (2019-20), Vanessa Duarte (2021-22, 2022-23). Bailey Donovan (2019-20, 2021-22, 2022-23, 2023-24), Jordyn Lengle (2024-25) and Hannah Richards (2024-25).
  • Has coached three North Atlantic Conference Player of the Year honorees - Kenzie Worcester (2018-19) and Bailey Donovan (2021-22, 2022-23).
  • Has worked with three North Atlantic Conference Defensive Player of the Year selections - Joan Overman (2019-20) and Bailey Donovan (2022-23, 2023-24).
  • Has tutored one North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Year - Bailey Donovan (2019-20).
  • Has directed two North Atlantic Conference Tournament Most Valuable Players - Kenzie Worcester (2018-19) and Sydney Allen (2019-20).
  • Has guided multiple Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association All-State selections - Kenzie Worcester (2018-19), Bailey Donovan (2019-20, 2021-22, 2022-23, 2023-24) and Vanessa Duarte (2022-23).

ATHLETIC CAREER:
  • As a player, Gott was a four-year letterwinner as a forward for the women’s basketball team at the University of Maine from 1983,84-87.
  • During her time with the Black Bears, Gott helped UMaine to an 83-32 record and a Seaboard Conference - known today as the American East Conference - Tournament Runner-Up finish in 1987.
  • She tallied 1,387 points and 781 rebounds in 115 career games played, while averaging 12.0 points-per-game.
  • Was a two-time captain for the Black Bears and was named to the 1986-87 Seaboard Conference All-Conference First Team.
  • Inducted into the Maine Basketball Hall of Fame in 2022.

PERSONAL:
  • A native of Old Town, Maine (Old Town High School).
  • Earned her bachelor of science in elementary education from the University of Maine in 1987.
  • Earned a Master’s Degree in teachers of geoscience from Mississippi State University in 2002.
  • Spent 20 years teaching science at Veazie Community School in Veazie, Maine from 1995-2015.
  • In 2014, Gott received the State of Maine’s Presidential Award for Excellence in Science and Math Teaching.
  • Resides in Old Town, Maine and is currently doing business development for Howard Tool Company in Bangor, Maine.
  • When she isn’t coaching basketball, Gott loves to do triathlon.
