Stephen Berenyi enters his second season as an assistant coach for the men's soccer program in 2022.
Stephen Berenyi is rejoining the Husson University Men’s Soccer team, this time in a coaching capacity having played a significant role for the Eagles between the 2012 – 2015 seasons. His most notable successes as an Eagle was his involvement in the last Husson Men’s Soccer NAC title victory back in 2014, where Stephen was selected as the NAC Tournament MVP. Berenyi started 63 out of his 67 games as a Husson Eagle with a total of 20 goals and 13 assists in his collegiate career. Outside of Husson, Stephen enjoyed playing for a variety of Maine clubs during his youth career, capping his playing days off by playing for the Seacoast Mariners NPSL team for several seasons after finishing his collegiate career.
Stephen has proven himself as a leader on the field as well as in the classroom. The Physical Therapy major was named to the President's List, the Dean's List, the Honor's List, and was a three-year member of the Husson Athletic Department All-Academic Team. In 2014, he was named to the NAC Fall All-Academic Team and on the NSCAA East Region All-Academic Honorable Mention Team. The following season, Stephen made history being honored as the North Atlantic Conference's (NAC) first ever men's soccer Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year. In addition, Stephen also received National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) College Division Scholar All-East Region Third Team accolades for excelling academically and athletically throughout his collegiate experience.
Berenyi went on to graduate from the Husson University School of Physical Therapy with a doctoral degree in 2018. Upon graduation, Stephen successfully passed the Maine State board exam to become a state certified licensed physical therapist. Having completed several clinical and internship positions around the country, working with several major league franchise athletes, Stephen currently enjoys working with a wide base of orthopedic injuries at a local Maine hospital.
A Maine native, Berenyi resides in Bangor, Maine.
