Scott Cunningham enters his first season as an assistant women’s basketball coach and his 10th year coaching basketball at Husson in 2015-16 .

In the 2015-16 season, Cunningham helped the Eagles earn the program’s first North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship and berth into NCAA DIII National Championship Tournament since 2010-11 with a 58-49 win over arch-rival Castleton, ending the Spartans’ three-year reign as Champions, while producing their first 20-win (21-7) season since 2003-04. Three players collected post season accolades.

Prior to joining the women’s coaching staff, Cunningham spent nine seasons (2004-11,14-15) as an assistant coach on the Husson men’s basketball team. During his time on the men’s bench, Cunningham contributed to a winning tradition that resulted in nine winning seasons, four NAC Regular Season Titles, three NAC Championships and three berths to the NCAA Division III National Championship tournament with a combined 191-88 (.685) record.

Cunningham was a four-year letterwinner as a guard on the Husson men’s basketball team from 2001-04. He tallied 187 points, 68 rebounds, 47 assists, 22 steals and seven blocks in 64 games played, while shooting 36.9 percent from the floor, 42.0 percent from behind the arc and 38.0 percent from the free throw line.

Off the court, Cunningham was named Sunrise Athletic Conference Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2003 and a NAIA Academic All-American in 2002.

Cunningham earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Sport Management from Husson in 2004.

Cunningham owns and operates Cunningham Carpentry.

A native of Glenburn, Maine, Cunningham attended Orono High School. He and his wife Hedi live in Glenburn, Maine.
