Ryan Weston enters his seventh season as a Husson football assistant coach in 2020, working primarily with the wide recievers.

PAST SEASONS:

2018: Weston served as the Eagles' cornerbacks coach in 2018 and his cornerback unit was one of the key factors in Husson’s fifth straight ECFC championship campaign in 2018. His corps helped the Eagles rank first in the conference in team passing efficiency defense (120.77) and total defense (283.2). Led by First Team All-Conference choice senior Quan Soyini, the Eagles allowed just 17 passing touchdowns while intercepting 17 passes. Soyini was ninth on the team in tackles with 30 while picking off three passes and breaking up seven more with a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Sophomore De’Wayne Smith had 29 tackles, four interceptions and a force fumble on the opposite side.

2017: Weston coached a secondary that held opponents to just 143.3 passing yards per game, while helping to produce 31 turnovers, including 19 interceptions. His cornerback group was led by junior Quan Soyini and freshman De’Wayne Smith. Soyini, in just his second full season as a starter, became Husson’s all-time interceptions leader with his game ending pick in the program’s first-ever postseason victory over Springfield and then broke Adam Scott’s 14-year old single-season interceptions record of eight in the Eagles loss to Delaware Valley en-route to earning All-ECFC First Team Defense, NEFW All-New England, d3football.com All-East Third Team, All-ECAC Second Team honors as well being named to the AP Little All-American Second Team.

2016: Weston served as the wide recievers coach in 2016, helping Husson finish the season with a 9-2 record and its second ECFC Championship. His receivers were an impressive group that helped the Eagles set a single-season program record in wins with nine, led by seniors Deon Wiggins, who claimed All-ECFC accolades for the second-straight season with an appearance on the first team, and Kadeem Edge, who earned a spot on the All-ECFC second team in 2016.

Edge broke the Eagles’ single-season records for receiving yards (656), touchdown catches (9), and average yards-per-catch (23.43) and the single-game record for yards gained by receiving with 158 yards at Becker on October 29th, while catching the second longest pass (85 yds) at Western New England on November 19th. He finished his career with the best yards-per-catch avearge in program history.

Wiggins finished first in the Husson record books with 22 career touchdown receptions, 88 career receptions and 1,358 career receiving yards. He ranked fourth with 24 touchdowns scored and 148 career points. During his senior campaign, Wiggins recorded the second most receiving yards and touchdowns, while catching the longest pass (93 yds) in program history vs. Anna Maria on October 22nd.

Wiggins and Edge became the first set of wideouts in program history to record 100-yard receiving games in a single-game on November 19th at Western New England.

2015: Weston served as the tight ends coach in 2015, coaching a tight end group that helped produced an offensive attack that average a single-season record of 420.6 yards per game, 187.8 passing yards per game, 232.8 rushing yards per game and 37.4 points per game. His tight ends caught eight passes for 63 yards and two touchdowns.

2014: Weston coached a tight end group that helped the Eagles to an 8-2 overall mark and a 7-0 record in the ECFC, earning the program’s first league championship and berth into the NCAA DIII Championship tournament in 2014. The Eagle tight ends were led by Second Team All-ECFC choice senior Caleb King, who started all ten games and helped pave the way for the conference’s best offense.

PREVIOUSLY:

Prior to joining the Eagles’ staff in the fall of 2014, Weston spent two seasons (2012-13) coaching at his alma mater as the assistant offensive line coach and as an assistant coach on the men’s basketball team.

PERSONAL:

Weston earned a Bachelor of Science in African American Studies from Bates College in 2013. He was a four-year member of the football team as a left-tackle. Weston was named the team’s Offensive MVP and as well as earning 2nd Team All-NESCAC for the 2010 season.

Weston was also a four-year member of the men’s basketball team, serving as team captain as a senior and helped lead the team to its first winning season in 31 years. He was also named the team’s Defensive Player of Year and awarded the Courage and Leadership award for the 2012 season.

A native of Bangor, Maine, Weston attended Bangor High School and was a three sport captain as a senior.
