Nate Quirion began his third stint on the Husson University football coaching staff in 2019.

In addition to serving as an assistant coach under head coach Nat Clark, Quirion also serves as the program's running backs coach. He held the same position from 2007-08 and 2014-16.

CAREER AT A GLANCE:

  • In his ten years as a member of the coaching staff, Quirion has helped the Eagles win three Eastern Collegiate Football Conference Championships (2014, 2015, 2016), including two NCAA Division III Championship tournament appearances (2014, 2016) and four bowl game appearances (2008, 2015, 2022, 2024).
  • At Husson, Quirion has helped the Eagles to a 66-36 (.647) overall record, including a 38-12 (.760) mark in conference games.
  • Quirion has helped developed multiple all-conference honorees - John Smith (2014, 2015, 2016), Garrett Poussard (2021), Elijah Garnett (2023) and Jed Lober (2024).
  • Quirion has coached one Eastern Collegiate Football Conference Rookie of the Year - John Smith (2014).
  • Has worked with one Eastern Collegiate Football Conference Offensive Player of the Year - John Smith (2015, 2016).
  • Has mentored one Noontime Sports All-New England choice - John Smith (2016).
  • Has directed one Eastern College Athletic Conference Scotty Whitelaw Sportsmanship Award winner - John Smith (2015).

  • Has directed one Husson Del Merrill Male Athlete of the Year recipient - John Smith (2016-17).
  • During his first stint (2007-08) as a member of the Eagle coaching staff, Quirion mentored Husson Sports Hall of Fame members Julius “Juice” Williams and Justin Lindie.
  • Under Quirion’s guidance, Williams and Lindie combined to rush for 3,127 yards and 41 touchdowns that helped the Eagles earn the program’s first-ever postseason appearance in 2008. 
  • At Mt. Blue, he helped the Cougars to a Class B North quarterfinal berth in 2018.

  • Played the 2000 season as a running back at Dean College.


PERSONAL:

  • A native of Winslow, Maine (Winslow High School)
  • Earned a bachelor of science in physical education from Husson in 2007 and a master's degree from Thomas College in 2023.
  • He is also a physical education teacher in the RSU 18 school district.
  • Currently resides in Winslow, Maine with his wife, Nicole, son Dean and daughter Brynn.
