The 2011 season will be Kevin Canty's first on the Eagle staff and his sixth as a collegiate assistant coach. He will coordinate the offense and be the team's recruiting coordinator as well.

Canty spent the past two seasons at Lake Forest College, where the offensive broke or tied 15 school records under his tutelage. The offense was able to cut their sacks allowed numbers in half, with 38 in his first season to 16 in his last, while tripling their rushing productivity from 2009 to 2010. His recruiting efforts allowed LFC to bring in the largest recruiting class in their schools history.

Canty spent the 2008 season at the College of St. Scholastica, where he was the offensive line coach and run game coordinator. He also served as the team's video coordinator and the co-strength and conditioning coordinator for the entire athletic department. Six players on the offensive side of the ball earned All-Upper Midwest Athletic Conference honors in the Saints' first year as a varsity program.

Before coaching at the NCAA Division III level, Canty served for two seasons as an assistant coach at Division II Wingate University, his alma mater. He was the Bulldogs' running backs and tight ends coach in 2007 and worked with the offensive linemen in 2006. He coached the South Atlantic Conference Freshman of the Year in 2007, a running back that led the nation in rushing yards by a freshman. He also directed a tight end that was selected to the Cactus Bowl and later signed a NFL contract.

“We are thrilled to have Kevin joining our family.” said Husson head coach Sean Murphy. Murphy went on to say, "He is an innovative, ambitious, and talented coach who will make an immediate impact on the growth of our program.  He embodies the character and talent that is critical for this position and will serve as a great mentor to our student-athletes."

Canty was a three-year letterman and concluded his collegiate career by earning All-American honors and starting in the East Coast Senior Bowl.

In February of 2011, Canty was selected by the NCAA  to attend their Football Coaches Academy held in Orlando, Fl. The Football Coaches Academy is designed to improve and reinforce various aspects of securing, managing and excelling in head football coaching positions at the intercollegiate level. "I was honored to be selected to attend the academy. It was a great opportunity, and experience. I look forward to continue my growth as a coach and I feel like the academy has prepared me for when it’s my time to become a head coach."

Canty resides in the Bangor area with his wife Maureen and his two dogs (Sebastian and Beans).
