Ed Mestieri joined the Husson University football program as an assistant coach in 2015 and currently serves as the inside linebackers coach.

CAREER AT A GLANCE:

  • Since joining Husson in 2015, Mestieri has helped the Eagles to a 68-33 (.673) overall record, including a 44-12 (.786) mark in conference games, in addition to four-straight Eastern Collegiate Football Conference Championships from 2015-2018.
  • Mestieri has helped the Eagles to a New England Bowl appearance in 2022 and a Fusion Bowl appearance in 2024.
  • Mestieri has coached two Cliff Harris Award Finalists - Bryant Wade (2015) and Elvin Suazo (2018).
  • Mestieri has guided three d3football.com All-Region selections - Elvin Suazo (2018) and Tucker Buzzell (2022, 2023).
  • Mestieri has directed three New England Football Writers Association All-New England members - Elvin Suazo (2018) and Tucker Buzzell (2022, 2023).
  • Mestieri has mentored two Noontime Sports All-New England representatives - Elvin Suazo (2017) and Tucker Buzzell (2022).

  • Mestieri has worked with multiple all-conference recipients - Bryant Wade (2015), Elvin Suazo (2017, 2018) and Tucker Buzzell (2021, 2022, 2023).
  • Prior to joining the Eagles coaching staff, Mestieri served as director of football operations and a defensive assistant for two seasons (2012-13) at the University of Maine, and the Black Bears claimed the CAA Championship in 2013 and a berth in the FCS playoffs, losing to long-time rival University of New Hampshire 41-27.
  • A veteran coach with over 40 years of experience, Merstieri, also coached at Norwich University, Dartmouth College, Kent State University, and Colby College, where he had a stint as head coach. As the Mules head coach, Mestieri posted a 31-33 record, finishing as the runner-up in the NESCAC on two occasions.


ATHLETIC CAREER:

  • Mestieri was a four-year letterwinner on the Springfield College football team from 1972-75.

PERSONAL:
  • Mastieri earned a bachelor of science in physical education from Springfield in 1976 and a master of Athletic Administration from Norwich in 1977.
  • A native of Wareham, Massachusetts, Mestieri attended Wareham High School and then Bridgton Academy.
  • He and his wife, Becky, live in Fairfield, Maine with their two golden retrievers. The couple has three children: Michael, Lindsay, and Samantha; and three grandchildren.
