Biography

2012 (St. Joseph's (ME)): One of five players to start all 17 games as a freshman defender…tied for the team-lead with two defensive saves…her first collegiate goal counted as the game-winner in a 4-3 victory over Rivier University on September 23rd…posted her first defensive save in a 1-0 triumph over Simmons College on September 16th…added another defensive stop in a 3-2 loss at the hands of New England College six days later...Named to the 2012 NFHCA All-Academic Team.

Before Husson: Played four years of varsity field hockey for Wanda Ward-McLean at Leavitt Area High School…earned KVAC Rookie Team accolades her freshmen year and claimed Class B First Team and All-Academic Squad mention her senior year…also played four years of varsity ice hockey; two for Leavitt and two for the Red Hornets, making the senior all-star team, first team, and all academic squad senior year…played three years for the Katahdin indoor field hockey club team under Head Coach Mary Brandes.

Personal: Kayla Courtney Royer, born on March 1 in Lewiston, Maine…daughter of Steve and Debbie Royer...majoring in Physical Education.
