Husson University

Shawn Smith joined the Husson University baseball program in 2022 as an assistant coach, after previously serving as an assistant for the team from 2014-19.

In addition to serving as an assistant coach under head coach Chris Morris, Smith works primarily with the program's outfielders.
 
CAREER AT A GLANCE:

• Since joining the coaching staff for his first stint in 2014, Smith has helped the Eagles to a 213-159 (.573) overall record and a 128-51 mark in North Atlantic Conference matchups.
• Smith has been a part of four North Atlantic Conference Championships in 2019 and 2022-24, and four NCAA tournament appearances.
• Smith has worked with numerous all-conference selections - Dylan Foster (2014, Kyle Bishop (2014, 2015), Christian Corneil (2015), Conor Maguire (2019), Joshua Scott (2022), Hunter Curtis (2023), Matt Holmes (2024) and Akira Warren (2024).
• Smith has coached two North Atlantic Conference Player of the Year winners — Dylan Foster (2014) & Conor Maguire (2019).
• Smith has guided one New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association All-New England Team member - Dylan Foster (2014).
• Coached one New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association Senior All-Star Game selection - Dylan Foster (2014).
• Worked with one American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings Division III All-Region honoree - Dylan Foster (2014).
• Tutored two D3Baseball.com All-Region selections - Dylan Foster (2014) and Matt Holmes (2024).
• Has mentored two North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Year honorees - Hunter Curtis (2023) and Matt Holmes (2024).
• Has coached one North Atlantic Conference Tournament Most Valuable Player — Austin Snow (2022).
• Smith has tutored one Maine College Baseball & Softball Association All-State Selection - Matt Holmes (2024).

• As a player, Smith was a four-year letterwinner for the Eagles from 2010-13 as both a pitcher and outfielder earning two North Atlantic Conference All-Conference Selections. 
• Earned North Atlantic Conference Player of the Year in 2013 and All-New England honors from the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference, New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association and the American Baseball Coaches Association.
• In 153 career games, Smith batted .332 with 175 hits, nine home runs, 21 doubles, 15 triples, 117 RBIs, 56 walks and 48 stolen bases. 
• Smith helped Husson to a 97-74 overall record with a North Eastern Athletic Conference East Division regular-season title, North Eastern Athletic Conference East Division Championship and tournament championship in 2011 as well as a North Atlantic Conference Championship in 2013. 
• Was a three-time team captain for the Eagles and the first player in program history to be selected to play in New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association senior all-star game. 
• Was selected as Husson's Del Merrill Male Athlete of the Year in 2012-13
• Was inducted into the Husson Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2023.

• Earned his bachelor of science in kinesiology from Husson in 2013 and his master’s degree in healthcare management in 2015.
