FALMOUTH, Maine — The Husson University women's tennis team rolled to a 7-0 victory over the University of Southern Maine on Sunday afternoon at Foreside Fitness.
The Eagles (4-1) swept all three doubles matches to secure the doubles point before winning each of the six singles contests in straight sets.
Husson opened the match with a dominant showing in doubles play. Sophomores Katelyn Cotter and Sadie May earned a 6-2 victory over Chloe Turner and Lexi Hayward at No. 1 doubles, while freshmen Lydia Jordan and Julia Spencer posted an identical 6-2 win against Willa Wilson and F. Crespo Cortes in the No. 2 position.
Freshman Grace Hansen and sophomore Elisabeth Kelly completed the doubles sweep at No. 3, defeating Adia Ameswright and C. Bonnet-Ethgen, 6-1.
The Eagles carried their momentum into singles action, beginning with Cotter at No. 1. Cotter defeated Turner 6-2, 7-5, while May cruised past Wilson 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2.
Spencer surrendered just one game in a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Crespo Cortes at No. 3 singles, while Jordan picked up a 7-5, 6-0 win against Hayward in the No. 4 spot.
Senior Olivia Christensen added a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Ameswright at No. 5 before Hansen closed out the sweep with a 7-5, 6-1 win against Bonnet-Ethgen at No. 6.
The Eagles are back in action on Thursday when they head to the University of New England for a matchup beginning at 3 p.m.
