BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University men's lacrosse team opened its North Atlantic Conference play Saturday afternoon in a 27-8 win over Anna Maria College at Boucher Field.
The Eagles' (5-2, NAC 1-0) offense couldn't be stopped in the first quarter, putting 10 up on the scoreboard. Senior Kiernan Field would open the scoring up for Husson off an assist from junior Drew Clinch. The Amcats (1-8, NAC 0-1) would tie it up at one a piece, but that would be the last time the game would be tied.
Sophomore Dominic Hollenkamp would get a hat trick in just the first quarter. Clinch would get a goal of his own, as well as contributing three assists. Field was the second Eagle to record a hat trick this period, scoring his third with just 24 seconds left.
Husson's offense slowed in the second, but was still dominant in the quarter. Field would continue his reign, ending the half with six goals. In the first half, seven different Eagles would get into the scoring column, giving Husson a 15-3 lead heading into the break.
Field would pick up right where he left off, scoring again just less than a minute into the third quarter. Freshman Gabe Robinson joined the hat trick party, with it being the first in his career.
The offensive never let up, with nine different Eagles scoring throughout the game. Field ended the game with eight goals, and Hollenkamp added six of his own. Husson held a 60-30 shot lead, and went 32-39 on faceoffs with junior Brad Stolt leading the way.
Senior Odin Burk and sophomores Jeremy Rousseau and Kyle Plummer would all split time in goal, each recording at least one save.
The 27 goals are the most that the Eagles have scored since April of 2023 against Cazenovia College, while junior Owen Giorgio recorded 20 ground balls, which was two shy of matching the single-game program record.
The 5-2 start to the season is the best seven-game start that the men's lacrosse program has had since its inaugural season in 2009.
The Eagles will head on the road to New York, where they will face SUNY Cobleskill in an NAC matchup next Saturday at 1 p.m.
