DELHI, N.Y. – The Husson University men's basketball team put together a strong all-around performance on Saturday afternoon, earning a 92–74 North Atlantic Conference road victory over SUNY Delhi at Floyd L. Maines Arena.
Husson (14-9, 13-3 NAC) came out sharp in the opening half, building an early cushion behind efficient shooting and consistent scoring in the paint. The Eagles knocked down 15 field goals in the first 20 minutes and connected on four three-pointers, gradually stretching the margin while holding Delhi (7-17, 6-10 NAC) to under 30%shooting from the floor. A balanced offensive effort helped Husson take a 40–29 lead into the break.
The Eagles carried that momentum into the second half, scoring 52 points after intermission and keeping Delhi at arm's length throughout the final 20 minutes. Husson attacked the basket effectively and capitalized at the free-throw line, shooting better than 94% from the stripe in the second half. Any attempt by the Broncos to close the gap was quickly answered, as Husson continued to generate quality looks and convert in transition to seal the conference win.
Senior Eric Ahlers led all scorers with 26 points while adding 12 rebounds to complete his 12th double-double of the season. Senior Gil Matondo followed with 22 points on an efficient 10-for-12 shooting performance, and sophomore Connor Heald chipped in 17 points and 10 rebounds for his first double-double of the season.
Sophomore Dylan Burpee added 12 points and provided a spark defensively with two blocks and a steal, while freshman Christian Smith contributed nine points along with four assists, playing a season-high 37 minutes.
As a team, Husson shot 52.5% from the floor and finished 23-of-28 at the free-throw line. The Eagles held a 43–37 rebounding advantage, scored 40 points in the paint, and forced 17 Delhi turnovers that turned into 18 points.
Husson will return home next, hosting Vermont State University Lyndon on Friday at 5:30 p.m. inside Newman Gymnasium.
