BANGOR, Maine — The Husson University men's soccer team suffered a 4-1 North Atlantic Conference loss to Thomas College on Tuesday evening at John P. Boucher Field.
The loss dropped the Eagles to 3-4-2 overall and 2-1 in NAC play, while the Terriers improved to 7-2 overall and remained unbeaten in conference action at 4-0.
Husson generated the first two shots of the contest inside the opening minute before Thomas eventually broke through in the 27th minute. David Ivarsson converted a penalty kick at the 26:45 mark to give the Terriers a 1-0 advantage.
Thomas doubled its lead less than six minutes later, scoring at 32:30 to carry a 2-0 advantage into halftime.
The Eagles came out of the break looking to cut into the deficit, as sophomore Lucas Alabiso put an attempt on goal just 29 seconds into the second half. Sophomore Jorge Mora followed with another shot on target in the 60th minute, but Thomas goalkeeper Jamie Fischer turned away both opportunities.
The Terriers extended their advantage to 3-0 in the 65th minute when Marcus Larsson found the back of the net at 64:19.
Husson answered just 36 seconds later when Alabiso scored his first goal of the season at 64:55, pulling the Eagles within 3-1. Alabiso finished the night with a team-high three shots, including two on goal.
The Eagles continued to push forward and earned a corner kick in the 77th minute before Alabiso sent another attempt over the crossbar. Thomas put the game away shortly afterward, as Jeremiah Gomez scored at 77:28 to account for the 4-1 final.
Husson finished with 10 shots, including five on goal, while Thomas recorded 13 attempts and seven shots on target. The Terriers held a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Mora recorded two shots on goal for the Eagles, while sophomore Cesar Soucre totaled three attempts with one on target. Alabiso accounted for Husson's remaining two shots on goal.
Sophomore Liam Mason played all 90 minutes in goal for Husson, finishing with four saves. Fischer also recorded four saves for Thomas.
The Eagles return to NAC play on Saturday when they head to Vermont State University Johnson for a 1 p.m. matchup.
