FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – The Husson University women's volleyball team came away with a split at the Framingham State University tri-match on Saturday afternoon, besting Norwich University 3-0 to begin the day, before falling to Framingham State 3-0 to wrap up the day.

After dropping the opening point of Saturday's first set, Husson (1-7) rattled off 11 of the next 12 points against Norwich (1-8) to gain immediate control of the opening set.
The Cadets didn't give in however, drawing back to within 13-12, as the two teams traded runs and Norwich managed to gain a 24-23 lead and force a timeout from the Eagles.
A kill from junior Janna Preskorn and an attack error on the Cadets gave the momentum back to the Eagles, but Norwich was able to avoid dropping the first set, as an attack error from Husson tied the set at 25.
Husson took advantage of two mistakes from the Cadets to win the first set by a score of 27-25.
Much like the first set, the Eagles jumped out to a quick start in set number two, as it secured leads of 6-1, 9-2, 14-4 and 20-9, before scoring the final five points of the set to take a commanding 2-0 set lead.
Following Norwich jumping out to a 4-1 lead to begin the third set, Husson utilized another scoring run of 13-3 to double up the Cadets.
The Eagles used that scoring run to finish off the third set and the match win by a score of 25-15.
Preskorn and graduate student Julia Leavitt led Husson with seven and six kills respectively, while freshman Peyton Hooker dished out 22 assists and recorded five service aces, in addition to sophomore Mikayla Gray also adding five service aces.
Sophomore Amanda Mei Morse led the Husson defense with seven digs.

Looking to continue its momentum into the final match of the day, Husson (1-8) battled Framingham State (5-2) to a 12-11 score in the midst of the opening set.
The Rams created some separation with a 7-0 scoring run and would hold on for a 25-20 win in the opening set.
Husson once again kept it close to start out the second set, trailing 10-8, but another strong close to the set from Framingham State led to a 25-16 score in favor of the Rams to allow them to take a 2-0 lead.
The Rams used their late momentum in set two to build a quick 9-4 edge in the third set, which the Eagles were unable to recover from, as they fell 25-20, dropping the match in straight-sets.
Leavitt and Preskorn once again led the way offensively with 10 and seven kills to their names, while Preskorn also added three service aces.
Hooker posted 22 assists for a second-consecutive game, while also being one of four Husson players to total double-figure digs, joining Preskorn (16), Gray (15) and Morse (11).
The Eagles return to action on Saturday when they travel to Regis College for another tri-match with games against Emerson College and Regis set to take place.
